Telepizza reinvents its barbecue line with the launch of three new pizzas and reinforces its innovation strategy

The brand is launching a new limited edition product line consisting of three different barbecue Telepizzas to suit all tastes: Sweet BBQ, with sweet sauce; Spicy BBQ, with spicy sauce; and Smokey BBQ, with smoked sauce.

In this way, Telepizza reinforces its customers' favourite category, the barbecue, which since its launch in 1997 has sold more than 250 million pizzas.

1 December 2021. - Telepizza continues with its innovation strategy and presents a new launch to reinvent its iconic Telepizza Barbecue, its customers' favourite speciality, which has sold 250 million pizzas since its launch in 1997. To this end, the brand surprises with a new category "Telepizza BBQ", consisting of three new barbecue pizza specialities, seasoned with different sauces that will give a special, gourmet touch to the taste buds of all palates.

A sweet version, made with bacon, marinated chicken, beef and the special Sweet BBQ sauce; a spicy version, prepared with ham, beef, crispy bacon and Spicy BBQ sauce; and thirdly, a smoked version with double beef, caramelised onions, tomato slices and topped with Smokey BBQ sauce, made with Bourbon.

Telepizza Barbacoa is the most popular option among Spaniards, with more than 6.5 million orders in 2021 alone. The history of the Telepizza Barbacoa dates back to 1997, when the brand launched this speciality. Since then, Telepizza customers in Spain have consumed more than 22.3 million kilos of Barbacoa sauce, which corresponds to around 250 million pizzas, equivalent to almost the entire population of Pakistan, twice the population of Japan, five times the population of Spain and around 3,000 times the capacity of the Santiago Bernabeu football stadium.

By Autonomous Communities and according to Telepizza's consumption data for 2021, the Community of Madrid is the region most loyal to the Telepizza Barbecue, consuming almost 1.2 million pizzas so far this year, followed by Andalusia, Catalonia, the Community of Valencia and the Basque Country. The Telepizza Barbacoa is also the star of holidays such as Halloween, Epiphany or the night of the Goya Awards, times when pizza consumption increases by around 21%.

These three new specialities, which will only be available until 1 March 2022, complete the offer of the Barbecue Category, which already has 9 different varieties, including Créme Cheese Barbecue, Gourmet Barbecue, Vegui Barbecue and Gluten-free Barbecue, among others. In addition, to complete the new line, Telepizza will offer its famous wings topping, this time marinated in one of its new barbecue sauces.

This new launch is part of the process of change in which the brand is immersed, which next year will present its new positioning, with the aim of consolidating its leadership in the market, reconnecting with consumers and improving their experience.
